National Cross Country Trip 2023 - Information and bookings now available
I know that we have only just started the Summer, but I am asking everyone to consider next year’s National Cross Country Championships, which are being held on Saturday 25th February 2023, at Harewood House, just north of Leeds.
The annual trip, championships and dinner have been a highlight of the club’s calendar for many years and I hope as many as possible can support it once again.
Costs have risen, but hopefully the amount of notice will enable people to plan ahead.
Full details are on the Race Information page and in the file below.

The distance runners contributed well to the team score, not dropping a single point across the men's 800m, 1500m, 5000m and steeplechase, whilst there were also excellent women's A string wins from Alex Shipley (1500m) and Verity Hopkins (3000m). Verity moved to 8th on the TAC all time list with 9.40.4 and Alex is competing for TAC as a 'higher claim' athlete, whose first claim club Milton Keynes is not in the league (she is also Miles Weatherseed's girlfriend !).
800m - Jordan Chambers (1.52.9) and Sean Molloy (1.53.9) won convincingly, whilst Jess Murphy ran a pb of 2.21.2 and Annabelle Hales had her first track race of the season.
1500m - As mentioned above Alex Shipley ran a fine 4.34.7 to win the women's race and Grace Fleming improved her best time for the season. Miles Weatherseed and Jamie Goodge both looked good in a 1500m which was way quicker on the second half.

See summary on the Results 2022 page.

Somehow, the team came from more than 2.5 minutes behind to snatch victory in the last half mile. Every one of them gave their all and nobody had a ‘shocker’, with some having stunning runs.
Corey De’Ath led off, coming home 23rd in 26.56. It wasn’t’ great but was only 1.14 from the front. Nathan Marsh, who had come into the team, late on Friday, produced a superb performance, moving the team to 10th with 15.28, which turned out to be the 4th fastest short leg of the whole race !
Jamie Goodge moved the team to 7th with a solid 26.49 and Michael Ellis, who is running well moved up another two places with 15.43. Ben Cole, who has been improving each week, ran 26.29 to move into 3rd. Miles Weatherseed was probably the most disappointed, as his 15.52 lost ground to those in front. So, at halfway the team were 2.36 from the leaders, Highgate.
Steve Strange is so much stronger physically and mentally than he has been and although he slipped one place, he ran 26.49. Jamie Bryant moved us ahead of Bristol into 3rd with 15.42. Then came Kieran Reilly, who recorded 26.10, staying in 3rd, but cutting into the time gap ahead. Highgate’s lead was down to 1.25, which is where I thought it had to be to give us a chance. However, Cameron Payas, who ran 15.41 slipped 10 seconds further back on the 10th leg.
Then came James Kingston, who were hoping would go well and he did, with spades, recording 25.53, the 7th fastest long stage and ahead of some very good senior internationals. This would have earnt him an England under 20 selection, but unfortunately he is soon due to have an operation on his ear. The Highgate lead was now at 53 seconds and Tonbridge were in 2nd. At the Southern Relay, two weeks ago, Ben Murphy had run 59 seconds quicker than the last runner due out for Highgate.
Ben soon started closing and actually took the lead with about half a mile to go, to secure an epic win.
