TAC Masters 600 metre record holders meet up at training
On Monday Simon Fraser broke the club record for the over 40 men's 600m, that had been held since 1977 by Alan Marriott. They didn't know each other but were both at training on Thursday evening, so we grabbed the photo opportunity. Alan has been setting a few 70+ records and hopefully a few 80+ targets for Simon to aim at in the future !

TAC Winter Parkrun Grand Prix 2016/17 concluded - Sophie Slack tops the table
From Mark Pitcairn-Knowles
Congratulations to Sophie Slack who is the winner of the TAC Winter 16-17 Parkrun age graded grand prix.
There were a massive 28 TAC runners at Tonbridge Parkrun today. With previous leader Andrew Mercer out injured, it was left to see if consistent scorer Huxley Crush could out score Lily Slack, Sophie Slack and Olukorede Fasina, all of whom had only 3 scores recorded up to this point.
There were some quality performances by TAC runners today but Lily Slack topped them all on age grading with 84.11%, to take the maximum 28 points available and 3rd place overall. However, Sophie did just enough with 26 points for a total of 73, to hold off Olukorede ,23 points today, who managed 71 overall. Despite boosting his score by 12 points, Huxley had to settle for 4th place and beating his Uncle today.
Luciana Anderson was the only other runner, apart from Andrew Mercer, in the top 12 to have registered only 3 scores, to finish only 18 points of the winner. A total of 71 TAC runners registered scores on at least one of the specified dates.
The Summer dates will be released shortly.

USA News - Thursday 13th April - Henry Pearce 29.41 for 10,000 metres
Mount Sac Relays Invitational Meeting
Henry Pierce had an excellent race over 10,000 metres, at the Mount Sac meeting. He won his race in 29.41.12, having gone through halfway in 'only' 15.06. So he must have run a personal best for the second half, over 5000 metres, in around 14.36!
Henry took the lead just over three kilometres out and ran around 8.37 for that last 3000 metres. He commented that he was a bit frustrated, as he was after a time to secure spot in the USA Regional Championships, which he missed. However, his time was a big pb, improving his previous best by 45 seconds.

TAC Winter parkrun update after 1st April event by Mark Pitcairn-Knowles
Minimum number of 10 runners at Parkrun today frustrated Huxley Crush as he attempted to overhaul the injured Andrew Mercer. He needs 2 points to draw level with Andrew, but courtesy of his discarded scores being higher, that would be enough. However today despite being second on TAC age grading to Olukoreda Fasina (they both ran PB’s) by just 0.61% this gave him 9 points which is equal to his lowest score so far. This was also the case for Amber Crush and Aimee Holdstock who were unable to better their scores so far. So with the last race to go on the 15th April Huxley will need to mobilise his family and friends at TAC to ensure he gets rewarded with at least 11 points, unless Olukorede, Sophie and Lily Slack complete a 4th score.

Friday 31st March News
Luca Russo moved to second on the 2017 TAC 1500 metre rankings with a terrific win at the Stanford Invitational Meeting, in California.
Racing for Missouri University Luca won section 6 of the mens 1500 metres in 3.46.47, which was a personal best by more than four seconds. Last year the qualifying time for the Olympic Trials in the UK was 3.47 so hopefully it won't change for this season's World Championship trials.
At the same meeting Ryan Driscoll, racing for San Francisco University was 4th in section 3 of the 3000 metres steeplechase in 8.56.99. Ryan unfortunately was taken down by another falling athlete at the first water jump. He got back up and his time was just 0.2s away from a pb and not far off the TAC record of 8.55.0.

First of all, although it wasn't easy, it was a great effort by everyone to complete two mens teams of twelve and two women's teams of six. So we had 36 runners out in total.
James West 'won' leg 1 of the men's race and posted the 4th fastest time of the 'Long' legs (the race alternates Long and Short stages). On the short stage Alex Howard was 3rd fastest and Jamie Goodge, with probably his best ever race, 4th fastest. Ashley Gibson was 2nd fastest overall on the short stage, in the women's race.
