Corey De'Ath won the men's races, leading TAC to a win in both the 4 and 12 to score contest. Michael Ellis in 6th captured the overall individual league title, with Dan Bradley in second.
The women's team competition, with three to score was a close affair. Blackheath won from TAC and Cambridge Harriers, on the day, which meant that the latter two were equal on league points and it went to overall match points. We were 3 points behind Cambridge Harriers before today, but a 7 point advantage reversed the positions and captured the league title. Imogen Amos finished 3rd and Harriet Woolley was 2nd overall in the league.

Charlotte Alexander won the women's 1500m in 4.30.74 and Simon Coppard the men's 800m in I believe 1.51.24 and 3.53.45. Charlotte's time is probably a club indoor record, although we don't have one currently listed. The time moves Charlotte to 6th on the TAC all time list, indoors or out.

National Cross Country Championships - potential post event Sunday lunch
Dear TAC Distance runner / supporter,
I write with good news of a planned 'National Awards Dinner' - a highlight of the season for so many of us over the last 14 years.
To cut a long story short, we have decided against an evening event this year, as it is stressful to hurry back from Parliament Hill, so I am planning a lunchtime event the day afterwards, Sunday 27 February, at The Judd School, Tonbridge.
The provisional arrangements are as follows:
Arrival from 12 noon (drinks and nibbles)
2-course lunch served 13:00 (probably delicious lasagne followed by cakes, provided by Jan of Fresh Catering)
Awards at 14:30
Depart by 16:00
Cost - approximately £20 per person.
Please complete the survey link ASAP so we can proceed organising with confidence. A further detailed survey will follow, with menu choices / request for payment etc.
https://forms.gle/ZxPRnQ8AWD2ii8Xc7
We really hope this event, whilst a little different from the usual evening events, will have the same club atmosphere and celebration as usual. To this end, it would be great to see as many athletes and supporters as possible, from all ages. Previous Dinners have seen attendances of c.200 people - I am hopeful we can approach this number again this year.
best wishes

Anthony Stevens 11th in Spine Challenger North Race in 59 hours and 35 minutes !
I rarely get an opportunity to copy a post on here about ultra running, but Anthony Stevens has just completed this event.
The web site is here - thespinerace.com/events/2018/1/14/montane-spine-race-5gsj5-86ezg-wfzww I imagine that this is the longest time anyone from TAC has ever raced.
I just got back from doing the Winter Spine in the Pennines (specifically, the inaugural Spine Challenger North race, covering the 160 miles from the Yorkshire Dales to the finish in Scotland). With this being my main target race for the winter, and in what were going to be challenging conditions given the extensive snow that had fallen in the hills over the last week, I was both excited and nervous before the start in Hardraw on Sunday morning, not least because of the extensive mandatory kit for all Winter Spine races which meant everyone was carrying backpacks weighing roughly 8-10kg.
There was plenty of snow and ice on the higher ground, which made use of ice spikes key for a number of sections, and on the lower ground much of the route had been turned into icy bogs with no discernible trail and progress painfully slow. The highest part of the course, Cross Fell, was covered in up to 2 feet of snow and was being blasted by sub-zero 40-50 mph winds on Sunday night / Monday morning, with at least one athlete forced to press their SOS button for a rescue. Monday evening saw some fresh storms, but by this time I had moved further east to the Hadrian’s Well section so was lucky enough to avoid the worst of the weather. Just over 20% of the starters had dropped out by Tuesday morning, missing out on some glorious sunshine as the weather lifted.
Overall, I was really happy with my performance – probably my best ever in an ultra – finishing 11th out of a field of 48 athletes, in a time of 59 hours 35 mins. With less than an hour separating 6th to 11th places, I partially regretted taking a 2 hour nap at the last checkpoint in Bellingham, but having at that point been going for 47 hours straight without any sleep, I was beginning to suffer from quite bad sleep deprivation and didn’t really have much choice at that point. I’m doing the Summer Spine Race (all 268 miles) again in June and will definitely be entering the main Winter Spine Race next January – the next big race I have is the 190 mile Northern Traverse in April, covering Wainwright’s Coast-to-Coast trail, followed by the 250 mile Cape Wrath Ultra in May up the northwest coast of Scotland.
