Charlotte Alexander doubled back after the 1500m and won, whilst Bethany Murray helped put the Swansea challenge in the match to bed by beating their's and other club's athletes.
2000 metres steeplechase women - Lily Slack decided to give the event a go for the first time and grabbed the win, after an exciting finish, whilst posting a UK top 10 under 20s time. This was after racing the 800m earlier in the day.

Tonbridge won this third and final match in the championship division south and topped the division, after Crawley 'slipped up' and could only finish third. This means that TAC have qualified for the promotion play off match on 16th August, at Horspath, near Oxford. This was definitely the best match of the season so far, with plenty of TAC success.
800m men - Jordan Chambers and Toby Bawtree took maximum points by winning the separate A and B string races.
800m women - Rae Le Fay and Anna Palmer took maximum points by winning the A and B string categories. Rae's 2.14.73 puts her 8th on the TAC all-time list. She also becomes the 6th TAC female to run under 2.20 this season, which is the highest number ever.
1500m men - Toby Bawtree had an impressive race to win, whilst Jordan Chambers secured maximum points once again, by winning the B-string.
1500m women - Rae was back in action and won in 4.33.53, which puts her 11th on the TAC all-time list. Katie Goodge ran 4.39.30, a fraction outside her pb, to win the B-string.
3000m men - Isaac Arnott and Cameron Chambers were 3rd in the A and B string categories
3000m women - Katie Goodge returned after the 1500m to win this with a very close finish, with Annabelle Souter winning the B string in a personal bes timet.
Steeplechases - Michael Ellis was the only TAC steeplechaser in action.
4x400m - Rae Le Fay and Anna Palmer joined 'sprinters' Evie Dixon and Asha Root to win the 4x400m relay in 3.57.96 and break the eight year old club record by 0.04 seconds.

Miranda Heathcote (Thomas) 1972 to 2025
This week we have received the extremely sad news that Miranda was taken ill last weekend and unfortunately passed away earlier this week, taken too soon at the age of just 52 years old.
I and others at Tonbridge Athletic Club send our heartfelt condolences and thoughts to all her family and friends at this extremely sad time.
Miranda was a member of Tonbridge AC in the 1980s, as part of an extremely successful under 13 and 15 squad, alongside the likes of Julie Adkin (now Goodge), Stacy Washington, Jemima Slade, Kelly Laughton-Zimmerman and others. On one occasion, four of them scored just 23 points, with 4 in the top 10 in the Girls’ (under 13) age group at the National Cross Country Championships, when Julie led them home.
In later years, Miranda moved to the West Country, so we would only see her occasionally, although the likes of Rachel Fagg stayed in very close contact. Miranda had a spell competing for Tonbridge once again, but her first claim club was Newquay and Parr and this is her Power of 10 profile, listing some of her results –
https://www.thepowerof10.info/athletes/profile.aspx?athleteid=26255
Miranda, like so many teenagers, drifted away from the sport for a while, but reappeared as an extremely good senior distance runner and here are a few of her achievements –
10th National Cross Country in the Girls’ age group (under 13), in 1985, helping Tonbridge to the win
1st in the Girl’s age group (under 13) in Southern Cross Country Championships, in 1986
5th in the Great North Run Half Marathon in 76.00 1998 (a race won by Sonia O’Sullivan)
56.38 for 10 miles
She won a senior women’s Kent Cross Country League race at Somerhill, Tonbridge in 2013
2nd in the South of England Cross Country Championships in 2014
6th in the English National Cross Country Championships in 2014
Represented England at cross country
Miranda even had a try at race walking and recorded 1.54.11 for 20km
Aside from all her achievements in the sport, Miranda was regarded as one of those warm, smiley and affectionate people, that people felt at ease with. She joined a group of us for a weekend training camp once and put a few of us to shame in how she handled the training regime and wasn’t’ daunted in the slightest by being the only female there.
Julie Goodge recalls - In one of her last messages she said that she was still involved in athletics, helping with track judging, which sums her up, if she couldn’t run herself she was still helping out.
Miranda had a tough life at times, especially with her health, but so often would smile through and be pleased to see friends.
Her passing was a shock to everyone, after being suddenly taken ill, which is a reminder to us all to cherish every day that we have.

Track Night Vienna, Austria, Saturday 14th June
Unfortunately human error caused almost all of the 800m races to be started from the wrong line. So rather than use the 800m staggered start line, the 400m was used, giving significant advantage to those in the outside lane. All the times were finally declared null and void ! This was particularly frustrating for Ted Higgins who would have won with a big pb in the B race.

South of England Under 13, 15 and 17 Championships, at Crystal Palace, Saturday/Sunday 7th/8th June
Apparently the Crystal Palace track had just 5 out of 8 lanes in use so the meeting timetable was more than two hours behind at the end of the day. It is bewildering how SEAA events can be so poor.
