KXCL Footscray Meadows – Parking
The car parking that we have been using in Footscray itself is no longer
available.
Please car share as much as possible and allow more time to get to the usual
Start/Finish area.
I carried out a recce last week to see what access from the surrounding
residential areas is available. No real access into Meadows from surrounding
areas are where a NO appears on the map.
Rectory Lane from the Bexley Lane end is dangerously narrow to walk.
Possible walking/jogging routes into the Meadows are numbered on the
accompanying map. For comparison, the walk from LQ car park previously
used was 0.7 miles. Not checked walking distance from Albany Park Station,
but about a mile. I believe one club are planning to use this transportation.
1. Path from Bexley Lane beside Cleeve Park School. A 0.4 mile walk.
2. End of Maylands Drive. 0.3 walk.
3. Slightly hidden path between houses end of Cleeve Road/Ladbrooke
Crescent. 0.4 walk.
4. Corner in Ellenborough Road, access through disused car parking area.
0.5 mile walk via small Penny Farthing bridge.
5. Large frontage of open access into Meadows from alongside The Grove.
6. Path from St James Church, accessed via St James Way, not N.Cray Road.
0.75 mile walk via Five Arches bridge.
7. Lay-by called Leafield Lane.
Visiting the Meadows last week reminded me what a lovely setting we have
for this fixture. Thanks and recognition should go to Cambridge Harriers
for hosting.
